If you love a big crowd and want to see on stage only the best artists in the world in your chosen genre, a large festival may be right up your street and festival aftermovies are a great way to get a sense of a festival experience.
There are some huge festivals in the UK but you don’t need to be confined to those on your doorstep as you can experience some amazing festivals abroad. We’ve pulled together some of the biggest festivals in Europe and to help you decide which one’s best for you, we’ve included the official aftermovies from 2018.
So, turn up the volume and pour a cold drink while you immerse yourself into some of the biggest and best festivals of yesteryear.
1. WE ARE FSTVL

The award-winning We Are FSTVL takes place over the last May bank holiday weekend and features a huge line-up from some of the biggest EDM (electronic dance music) artists from around the globe. As one of our festival partners, festivalgoers can also buy plastic-free festival kits for collection on arrival.
We Are FSTVL’s 2018 headliners included Carl Co, Sigma, and Eric Prydz.
The 2019 line-up includes Chase & Status, The Black Madonna, Basement Jaxx, Andy C, and Craig David. Full line-up so far.
2. BOOMTOWN

Described as a city of music, theatre, escapism, community and creativity, Boomtown hosts a variety of different districts containing over 25 stage sets and 80+ unique street venues.
Gorillaz, Die Antwoord, and Limp Bizkit headlined in 2018. This year’s includes Ms Lauryn Hill, Prophets of Rage, and The Streets. Full line-up so far.

3. ULTRA EUROPE

Ultra Europe is part of a global network of Ultra festivals spread across several countries, which boasts the world’s top EDM DJs. If Ultra Europe isn’t enough for the hardcore revellers reading this, you can get yourself tickets for Ultra Destination, a week-long sun-kissed festival extravaganza which also includes the opening party, yacht regatta, Ultra Beach, and the closing party.
2018 headliners included David Guetta, Marshmello, and Eric Prydz. Their 2019 line-up includes Swedish House Mafia, Jamie Jones, Carl Cox, The Chainsmokers, and Alesso. Full line-up so far.
4. SZIGET

Capacity: | 500,000 |
As one of Europe’s largest multicultural music and arts festivals that embraces cultural diversity and sustainability, Sziget hosts over 1,000 shows across 60 stages for 7 days straight on what is known as the Island of Freedom.
Headliners in 2018 included Lana Del Rey, Dua Lipa, Shawn Mendes, and Kendrick Lamar.
The line-up for this year is set to feature Foo Fighters, Ed Sheeran, ad Florence & The Machine. Full line-up so far.

One of the first major festivals in the UK summer calendar, Isle of Wight Festival pulls in some of the biggest popular artists around. 2018 headliners included Kasabian, Depeche Mode, and Liam Gallagher.
This year’s theme is Peace and Love and the line-up features Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, George Ezra, and Biffy Cyro. Full line-up so far.

An 8-day festival of music, activism, arts, camps, and freedom, Roskilde is a non-profit festival focused on equality and sustainability that showcases a diverse line-up of raw talent and well-known artists
2018’s headliners were Bruno Mars, Gorillaz, and David Byrne. The line-up for this year features a host of headliners including Bob Dylan, Travis Scott, The Cure, Robyn, and Vampire Weekend. Full line-up so far.
7. ROCK AM RING & ROCK IM PARK

Capacity: | 150,000 combined |
Europe’s biggest rock festivals are held at different locations on the same dates and with almost identical line-ups. They host some of the world’s greatest rock and heavy metal bands. Headliners from 2018 were Foo Fighters, Gorillaz, Thirty Seconds to Mars, and Muse.
Headliners this year include Tool, Die Arzte, and Slipknot.

8. TOMORROWLAND

Tomorrowland is an EDM festival held over two weekends and offers a wide variety of festival, travel, and hospitality packages to suit all budgets.

This year’s headliners include some of the biggest house DJs in the world including Armin Van Buuren, The Chainsmokers, Carl Cox, and Boris Brejcha. Full line-up so far.
